In recent years, the focus has increasingly been on supporting local aid projects. "We want to make a difference here in Liechtenstein and the region. We know that there are many families in our country who can only afford the bare necessities. That is why this year we are making a gift to the family support programme of SOS Children's Villages," says Club President Marco Weishaupt. The generous donation of CHF 5,000 will benefit families in the country who have sick or disabled children and need therapies, aids or support that the health insurance does not pay for and exceeds the family's financial means. In cooperation with three paediatricians, families in need are supported by SOS Children's Villages. During the cheque presentation, paediatrician Dr René Kindli gave an impressive account of his everyday life: of children with rare diseases who need specific examinations, of disabled children whose parents cannot afford the cost of meals for day care, or of therapies that are necessary from a medical point of view for ADHD children or children with psychological problems, such as riding or art therapy. In 2022, CHF 101,000 was spent to support a total of 53 children and their families, and the trend is rising. The joy was therefore great among all those involved to be able to make a significant contribution to this important programme.
