The war and attacks continue throughout Ukraine, severely affecting and endangering the lives of children and their families. The regular waves of attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure have left millions of people in all regions of the country without electricity. Around 3,800 educational institutions have been destroyed, roads and bridges have been bombed and there are few safe places left for children to play outdoors.
The number of victims since the beginning of the war is staggering: around 6.9 million people have had to flee abroad, including many women and children. More than 3.8 million people are on the run within Ukraine. Over 14,000 civilians have been killed, including more than 2,000 children, and many more have been injured.
The aid measures include:
Supporting children, young people and families affected by the war in Ukraine together with local partner organizations
Aid for Ukrainian refugees in eight European countries
Support for displaced children and parents with relief supplies, advice and psychosocial care in SOS social centers
Financial support, e.g. for food or rental costs, including targeted cash assistance
Psychological support for children and parents to help them cope with stress, trauma and loss
Creation of child-friendly spaces where children can play, learn and experience safety
Medical, psychological and rehabilitative support for war-wounded children and their families
Capacity building for mental health and psychosocial support professionals through training and supervision
